Apparatus Classes

reformer.jpegApparatus classes are offered at various times and days. All apparatus classes are held in a 6-week series.  If you are new to Pilates or new to our studio, please start with the Beginner level apparatus or Pilates Experience classes.  If you would like to start mid-session, we require you to complete our Intro Package of private sessions before joining an apparatus class.  This is to introduce you to the equipment and teach you proper technique on the apparatus.

Just like mat classes, apparatus classes at Excel Pilates DC are graduated from beginning level classes through advanced, or usually intermediate. Each class level has a curriculum and is designed with specific goals.

Most apparatus classes consist of 3 or 4 people. Usually the reformer (piece of apparatus equipment pictured to the left) is used, but sometimes a teacher will have class participants try other pieces of apparatus. All class participants go through the exercises together as the instructor leads them. Each student will learn to facilitate equipment setup of the reformer as exercises and transitions are learned.

Wall-Unit classes are also offered. The wall unit is pictured directly below. The Wall-Unit uses mat exercises, but also includes springs and equipment to further deepen your workout.

PLEASE NOTE: For all Equipment/Apparatus Classes, registration and payment is final 7 days before the 6-week session begins. Registration is for 6 consecutive weeks of the series (1 class per week for 6 weeks). No refunds/transfers/cancellations. Make-ups are available if completed during the current session of an equal or lower level class.

Classes must reach a minimum number of registrants to be held or they may be cancelled.
If minimum is reached, drop-ins are available with permission at a drop-in rate.

Schedule is subject to change. Please call the studio at 202.269.3020 for the most current information.
