At Excel Pilates DC we offer of variety of options for Pilates training. Your workout schedule can be structured to best suit your needs and budget.
PRIVATE INSTRUCTION BY APPOINTMENT
The Pilates Method is taught in a layering process that allows the individual to build on knowledge and skills gained in each workout. Private sessions allow the individual to learn and grow at their own pace and ability. Private sessions are recommended at least one time a week. One to three times per week is typical. In your privates session you will learn and experience exercises on the Reformer, Mat, Cadillac and Wunda Chair as well as the many other pieces of classical Pilates Equipment. You can schedule an appointment here.
DUET AND SMALL GROUP SESSIONS BY APPOINTMENT
Duets and small groups are also an option for appointment based sessions. These sessions are perfect for friends or family members at a similar fitness level that are interested in working out together. The studio can also help participants find partners to share a teacher for private instruction. Please contact the studio for assistance in scheduling a duet or small group at 202- 269-3020 or email@example.com
Mat classes are offered at various times and days and are the most affordable program we offer. In a group setting, you will learn exercises that you can practice at home. Pilates Mat is the foundation of The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning, consisting of a series of exercises integrating control, flexibility, strength, precision, breath, flow of movement and body awareness. No equipment is necessary.
Mat classes at Excel Pilates DC are graduated from beginning level through advanced. Each Mat class level has a curriculum and is designed with specific goals and exercises in mind.
Beginning: Intro Level Mat, Open Level Mat + Stretch, and Level 1 (great place to start!)
Intermediate: Level 2, Level 2/3
Advanced: Level 4
If you are new to the studio and experienced in Pilates please contact the studio for guidance on level registration. We highly recommend that anyone new to the studio start in one of the beginning classes, to receive an introductory session before being correctly placed at their level with the recommendation of a teacher. Levels 2-4 are increasingly advanced work at a faster pace and require studio permission for first time registration.
Mat classes are limited to 10 people per class. You are encouraged to register for classes in advance. Each mat and reformer class must reach a minimum participant number in order to be held. We reserve the right to cancel class 24 hours in advance if it doesn’t meet minimum registration. Any class cancellations will be posted on MindBody, our app, and Facebook and registered participants will be contacted in advance.
Reformer classes are offered at various times and days. If you are new to Pilates or new to our studio, we recommend you complete our Intro Package of private sessions before joining an apparatus class. This is to introduce you to the equipment and teach you proper technique on the apparatus. Just like Mat classes, Reformer classes at Excel Pilates DC are graduated from beginning level classes through advanced. We advise beginning with a Level 1 class. Each class level has a curriculum and is designed with specific goals.
Most Reformer classes consist of 3 or 4 people. Usually, the Reformer is used, but sometimes a teacher will have class participants try other pieces of apparatus. All class participants go through the exercises together as the instructor leads them. Each student will learn to facilitate equipment setup of the Reformer as exercises and transitions are learned.
